Hey there fellow lighting friends. Lighting control systems can sometimes give specifiers, installers and even occupants pause, due to the potential for complicated integration compatibility, installation complexities and usability concerns. Simply put…lighting controls can be scary for any novice, but today however, we have the EZ Connect control system by Daintree on hand, and here is what you need to know.

Before we dive into the product details, I want to explain that when this sample case arrived at our studio, the products seen in this demo case had not yet been commissioned…meaning, the combination of switches and occupancy controls were not yet programmed to talk with the room controller or communicate with the two Prescolite lighting fixtures. So, I downloaded the Daintree EZ Connect app to my iphone, and the commissioning began to simply fall into place.

First off, creating and configuring a room or zone literally took a matter of seconds; my phone recognized that there was a node nearby, and allowed me to immediately begin adding switches that I wanted to connect to the room. Each peripheral component has a nice weight and tactile feel and by simply removing the cover to expose the inside, I easily added each control component to the network by scanning the QR code on each unit. Before I knew it, luminaire control including dimming capabilities was working and I felt like a controls expert!

Now, just because the setup was extremely easy, as the name implies, doesn’t mean that this system isn’t capable of scaling and providing additional functionality to power users. The EZ Connect app also allows users to dial in customizations for different parameters like Task levels, Background levels, Grace Time, and Group Hold Time so that you can configure your room to meet the needs of the occupant’s behaviors and in addition to those occupancy room settings, rooms can utilize additional daylighting features to maximize energy saving opportunities.
